About the LIKE Gender Equality project

The aim of this project is to create awareness of and provide training tools to tackle gender inequalities in digital media. The media being targeted is any that contains gender stereotypical content, especially video games, advertising, and websites.

The tools, courses and guidance are designed for:

  • Producers of digital media content – photographers, video-makers, illustrators, copywriters etc.
  • Those who make digital media decisions – web designers, graphic designers, advertisers, marketing specialists etc.
  • Teachers and lecturers who are educating others on the creation and use of digital media.

LIKE Gender Equality is funded by Erasmus+, as part of the EU’s drive to make gender equality a social and professional priority.

According to the European Commission, “the media are centrally placed to shape society’s perceptions, ideas and attitudes and behaviour. They can either hinder or hasten structural change towards gender equality.”

You can find out more about what gendered media looks like here, and how you can make a difference to the messages we send through digital media here.
